35 Weeks 2 Days

Hi - Another two more weeks down and another 2 1/2 more weeks to go. :) I've got only 2 more work days until I'm on maternity leave until July. I can't wait. I had my baby shower last weekend and had a good time seeing everyone! "Son" got lots of presents to boot. Thanks everyone for your attendance and seeing your smiling faces and for all the lovely and cute presents. I was overwhelmed with how many showed up. It was fun and I loved every minute of it. My mom Carol, mother-in-law Wendy and best friend Linda did an excellent job on the shower!!!! Extra help came from Jason's sister Christina with the cake and help with the decorating and from Jessica who made my invitations and Thank you cards that will be on their way soon. A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!

The baby is starting to get real big now and I'm feeling the weight of him. Simple tasks are now quite a chore to do. I've been keeping up with all my doctor appointments every week and testing my blood sugar and taking my insulin that they keep increasing weekly. I have a full bladder ultrasound tomorrow to measure and get an approximate weight of the baby and see if they may need to induce even earlier then 38 weeks. I should find out something next week when I see my regular doctor.

Maternity leave starts next week and I've already have a busy schedule of things to do for the first week. I've got doctor appointments and lunches with friends and shopping and steam cleaning to take care of. Not to mention a lot of laundry to do for the baby too. I better get it done before he gets here in a couple of weeks. eeek!

Well that's it for now. I'll keep in touch in the next couple of weeks. The picture above is me at the baby shower.

Love to all!

33 Weeks 2 Days

Hi there! Time is slipping away faster and faster it seems. Sorry I have forgotten to do my blog in 3 weeks. But you haven't missed a whole lot anyway. Let's see, I have been doing Non-Stress Tests twice a week at the doctors office for the last 3 weeks. Everything seems to be going well as long as the baby is awake when the nurses want him to be awake, which sometimes this is hard to do. Take yesterday for example... I had my NST at 10am when usually the baby is awake, but the little bugger would not wake up for an hour. He'd give a kick here or there but nothing that they really wanted to see. Then I had my regular doctor appt at 11am. She wasn't happy that son would not wake up. So she wanted me back on the monitors until he gave them what they wanted. This seemed to be an impossible task to do. I sat on the monitors again for another 35-40 minutes waiting for him to wake up. Finally got him to do what he was suppose to do, but it took forever! Everyone was happy and I finally got to go. The doctor is still fooling around with my insulin doses as my blood sugar levels are still not coming down. And it's not from lack of trying either. But I do what I can with the diet and shots and the insulin has to do the rest.

We had our last "baby" class last night which was called New Born Baby Care and that was pretty interesting. Very informative and A LOT of information. Tomorrow we have our hospital tour in Walnut Creek and we are looking forward to that one. I can't wait to see where I will be giving birth to our son.

At this point I think we are looking at me leaving work in about 2 1/2 more weeks. Friday April 10th will probably be my last day at work. I'm looking forward to that as well!!! 2 1/2 months off will probably fly by, I'm sure. I'm hoping to go back to work around July 6th if everything goes my way of course. :)

So that's it for now. Not a lot of new information at this point. Still haven't gained any weight either. :) Really happy about that! OH - the baby's room is done for the most part. Jason has put the crib together and finished building son's dresser. It looks pretty much complete now. I love it! Jason did an excellent job on everything!!! He's such a proud father.

Until next time... Love to all!

30 Weeks 2 Days

Salutations! Our weekend started off with taking a trip to Walnut Creek Hospital to Labor & Delivery on Saturday night at midnight. I started spotting more again and was more then the previous week. We called and the staff wanted me to come out this time just in case. So off we went. They put me on monitors and listened to the baby's heartbeat and watched to see if I was having contractions. Baby sounded good and no contraction. So they did other poking and prodding, another ultrasound and some other stuff I'm not too sure about. The cause could not be found and we were released around 3:00am on Sunday morning. We collapsed in our bed at 4:00am. Ugh.

I had my regular check up with my doctor this morning. She read what my chart said and didn't seem too concerned about Saturday's events. That's good. She's still trying to get my diabetes under control and raised my insulin levels again. She is now starting me on the Non Stress Tests twice a week starting next week. Not sure what all that will detail. I'm going to be quite the regular at the doctors office from now until the baby comes, which will still probably be at the end of April (38 weeks). All in all she was happy with my weight (I'm not gaining a pound thus far) and my blood pressure. My eating habits have changed because of the diabetes and she very happy about that. So things are looking good.

I'm still feeling quite droopy though. I would love to sleep for like a week solid. My energy level is really low. I'm missing my fruit juice and fruit a lot! I'm getting very impatient with people in general and I'm still crying at everything. Sheesh! I'm a mess. My belly isn't really big and was confirmed by a friend over the weekend, which made me feel really good. But you can tell I am prego and not just fat. :)

We didn't get a lot done on the baby's room this weekend like I thought, but hopefully that will change this week. I'm hoping to get the carpet down and get some furniture in there and get all the wonderful clothes put away.

WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE THAT HAS DONATED CLOTHES TO US! We have so many clothes we don't know what to do with it all. We are set for the first year for sure! Thank you!!!

Jessica is almost done with the invitations for the shower. Invitations should be going out this weekend I think. :) Thanks Jess!!!

Well the count down has begun... 8 more weeks!!! Son will be here before we all know it. :D

Love to all!!!

29 Weeks 1 Day

Hi - I know it's been a while for an update, but I've had a pretty busy 2 weeks....

Let's see, 2 weeks ago, I found out my Uncle Jerry (my dad's bother-in-law) passed away in Nebraska. I am VERY close with him and my Aunt Sharon (his wife). We scheduled our trip back there for his funeral. All in all it was a good trip and was so thankful we got to see my family. We also had our Nutritionist appointment on Thursday Feb. 12th right before the trip. I was put on insulin to get my sugar under control. I've changed my diet drastically and using insulin 3 times a day. They are still playing with my insulin levels as my numbers still aren't where they should be. It takes some time to get that right they say. We also had a scare while at that appointment... Jason asked if my sugar levels were high, did that effect the baby's movements at all. The doctor said if anything the baby should be more active. At that time, the baby had slowed down for the last three days. That was a concern. So they sent me over to another room to put the fetal and contraction monitors on me. Had an ultrasound and monitored me for 15-20 minutes. The tech took my readings to a doctor. Didn't like something they saw. Sent me up to Labor and Delivery for admitting for more monitoring. SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF JASON AND I! BUT as it turned out, everything was fine and the baby was doing some kicking even though I wasn't feeling him. I was discharged an hour later. JEEEEEZ!

Then last week on Thursday Feb. 19th after we got back from Nebraska, we had my regular check up with our doctor. She wasn't happy with my sugar numbers but knows we are working on getting it under control. Baby's heartbeat sounded good, but says because of my diabetes, she may have to take the baby a couple of weeks early. Great... Whatever keeps the baby safe! So he may come in late April instead of around May 11th. We'll see. Oh, she also mentioned that my appointments are going from once every 4 weeks to 2 weeks instead. They are going to monitor me more closely and be running more tests. Fun stuff.

Then over the weekend, Jason and I started fixing up the nursery finally. Finished getting it all cleared out. We got paint on the walls and Jason put up new crown, base and chair moldings. We have some trim and the closet to finish painting and then clean the hardwood floors and put down the carpet we have. It looks so cute! I can't wait to see the finished product. :) Jason's been working on the baby's dresser too. He says that will be done sometime this week. I can't wait!

Then on Sunday night, I had another little scare. I had some spotting. We called Labor and Delivery like all the papers and books said to do. They asked me a ton of questions, but in the end told me it didn't look like I had to come in at this point. As long as I was not having contractions and the baby was moving I should be okay, but to keep an eye on things. So here we are today. No more spotting and things seem to be back to normal. Whewwww! I'm not ready to have the baby yet nor is the nursery ready. We should be all done with the nursery by the end of this weekend and start putting furniture together and setting up the room. I'm so excited!!!! :)

So that is it for now. We've had quite the last 2 weeks! My next appointment is Wednesday March 4th next week, plus we have our Late Pregnancy Class on Monday March 2nd. We look forward to those classes. They are fun to attend.

Love to all!

26 Weeks 4 Days

Hi - It's been a quiet week for the most part. I had to do a 3 hour glucose test on Saturday and did not pass. The perinatal department called and wanted one more simple blood test taken plus I was scheduled an appointment with a nutritionist and prescribed a blood sugar testing machine that diabetics use to test their blood. I got my blood test taken last night and picked up my testing machine as well. The nutritionist will teach me how to use it and tell me what I should and shouldn't eat. Like I don't already know this information, it's just a matter of following through with it. I'm pregnant! I want sugar, fruit, pasta and juices! Give me a break! Anyways, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so I have no choice to control my sugar intake. Darn it! The baby has been kicking and kicking. Jason finally got to feel some really good kicks by the baby too! Jason was so excited I tell ya. We were both getting frustrated that the baby would stop kicking when daddy got too close. lol Grandma Carol is still waiting to feel him move though. Baby Rodrigues is not putting on that show at all. We have a breast feeding class scheduled for tomorrow morning, so that should be interesting to say the least. But I am looking forward to it. Then after that, we should be going over to Target to register some more baby goodies. Yippee!!! I love shopping for the baby. That is it for this week. I hope you all have a great weekend and keep checking back here for more info every week. I tell ya everything even if its boring stuff. ;)

Love to all!

25 Weeks 3 Days

Hi y'all ~ Well our weekend was a trying time. Jason had a job that he had a hard time on and things didn't work out as planned. It happens. Saturday I was out there helping him get this job done as he was losing time for the install on Sunday. We did get the job done, but other things happened on Sunday that just didn't work. Oh well. Learn and move on. So with that said, Jason was home early from his install on Sunday and we went to register at Babies-R-Us in the afternoon finally. Sheeesh! It took over 2 hours to go through the store scanning things we needed and wanted. 1/2 hour of our time was spent on a stroller alone! We could NOT figure the darn thing out and how to collapse it. We finally had to ask a sales person how the darn thing worked. He showed us and it was really simple, however we would have NEVER figured it out on our own. Jason and I need classes to go to, to learn how all these baby things work! Do they have them? I don't know, but they should for first time parents!

I had to do my glucose test this week and finally did that on Wednesday. It wasn't bad at all. I was prepared for the worst with the orange stuff I had to drink. I had been told by others how awful this stuff was to drink. I must be weird, because I thought it tasted just like Sunkist orange drink and didn't have a hard time drinking it. It was gone in a minute. Then I sat there in the waiting room for an hour. Boring! Then after my hour was up, they had to take my blood. 2 vials for testing. I received my results back today. NOT good! My glucose results were suppose to be under 139 mg and mine was 227 mg. So now I wait for the doctor to call me and schedule me to come back for more testing to see if I have gestational diabetes. Apparently it's a longer glucose test where I have to fast for 12 hours before and they take blood every hour for 3 hours after I drink the orange glucose stuff. I thought for sure I was going to pass this test with no problems what so ever. Boy was I wrong. I will keep you all informed on the next test to come.

As for the baby... He is kicking away and getting a little bigger. His daddy and I sit on the couch at night with the TV remote on my tummy and watch the little one kick it around. It's so funny to watch. Grandma still tries to feel him move, but no go. He freezes up on her too.

For this weekend, we have Jason's mom's garage sale planned both days. It should be great weather and in the 70's. I can't believe it's January with this weather! And after the garage sale on Sunday, we are back at home to watch the Super Bowl. :) I don't care who wins, but I'm in a pool so I hope the score fall on my numbers! Wish me luck! Talk to you all soon.

Love to all!

24 Weeks 3 Days

Greetings -
Sorry it's been a while again since my last blog. Time is starting to slip away from me. Nothing much to record for last week. We did however start cleaning out the baby's room and moving our office into the dining room. That is just about done then we can start painting. The paint color will be a very light green on the upper half of the room and a darker green on the bottom half. Jason's going to put up a chair railing to divide the colors and add some crown moldings as well. We went back to Babies-R-Us and picked out a theme. Jason decided on a Farm theme, so I went with it. We wanted to register last weekend, but never made it. That brings me to the weekend and this week... Oops, first last Wednesday I pulled some stomach mussels. WOW did that hurt! Went to see the doctor the next day and everything is fine. She said I just strained them and to maybe try one of those pregnancy belts for support. I can say it works great and I feel so much better with it on. Then I came down with the flu on Saturday night. Lucky me!!! It was 14 hours of pure hell. Jason called the advise nurse twice to find out how to stop me from vomiting and stop the diarrhea too. We were all getting worried about the baby. Nothing stopped it all, but time. Then Jason came down with it on Monday night. I'm glad I could share with him. ;) My mommy always told me to share! So while I was still recouping, I was taking care of him. Not fun, let me tell you. We are both on the road to recovery today. So needless to say, what we had planned to get down over the weekend did not get done. Next on my list was our doctor appointment today. Just your normal appointment. Blood pressure normal, baby's heart beat sounded good, and conversation with the doc and I lost 3 pounds from being sick. So with everything bad that happened this last week, the baby is doing fine. Upon our leaving the doctor office, we received our registration papers for the hospital. Lots of forms to fill out and bring back next time. This made it even more real for Jason. :)

I think that is it for now. I feel okay and my belly is growing, but not too fast. ONLY 4 MORE MONTHS TO GO! Yippee!

Love to all!
